X Factor singer undeterred by Cowell criticism

The Jewish Chronicle - - NEWS -

“OVERWHELMINGLY RELIEVED and excited” — that was Joel Fishel’s reaction after he and his singing partner Jack Remington made it through to the next round of X Factor on Saturday night.

The duo performed Havana, the salsa number by Camila Cabello currently topping the charts.

Oxford maths graduate Joel — or “JLo” as he was dubbed by judge Sharon Osbourne for his “geeky but cute” dance moves — told the JC: “Jack and I were ready to hear that it was us leaving, because the competition is so strong. But we’ve gained a lot of confidence, having got through, and we’re just raring to get on to the next round.”

Viewers were surprised at the criticism Jack and Joel received from their mentor Simon Cowell, Joel said: “His comments were seemingly quite cutting but he has the best intentions at heart. He takes this very seriously, and knows we can handle the feedback.” Joel Fishel
