Multi-course menu to suit all appetites
AThe Great British Bake Off and Masterchef? Is your brightly coloured KitchenAid stand mixer your most precious possession? If cooking is your favourite pastime but you would like to brush up on your skills and turn yourself into a star baker, a short cookery course is the answer.
Whether you choose a two-hour lesson, a day workshop or a few classes over a number of weeks, professional tuition will go a long way to impress family and friends.
So put on your apron, wash your hands and make it choppy.
The Cookery School at Little Portland Street runs 40 different classes and courses, including pastry, sourdough bread making, knife skills, gluten-free cooking, healthy eating, sushi, Thai and Mexican. Whether you are a proficient cook or an eager beginner, there is a class to suit your skill level. There are also vegetarian classes (including Indian cuisine) and a vegan class.
The school welcomes students of all ages and teaches how to cook good, sustainable food with confidence. It is the only London cookery school awarded the maximum three stars for its ecoconscious practices from the Sustainable Restaurant Association. Getting children interested in cooking is a sure way to promote healthy eating. The Kids’ Kitchen, in north London, runs classes for ages two and over. The classes encourage children to try new foods and textures. Children leave with a recipe hand-out and the items they have made.
The cost of a session is £15, to include all ingredients, utensils, aprons and tuition. Classes run on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from 1.30pm to 2.30pm and Thursday and Friday mornings, 9.30pm to 10.30am.
