THE TEEN RAPIDLY BECOMING AN ICON

The Jewish Chronicle - - WORLD NEWS -

AHED Tamimi was hailed by Palestinians as an icon in their fight against Israel after the footage of her slapping impassive Israeli troops outside her West Bank home appeared last month.

The 16-year-old was arrested in a pre-dawn raid three days later.

On Monday, she was indicted on five counts of assaulting security forces and throwing stones and will remain in custody until at least next week.

Her mother Nariman Tamimi also faces charges of incitement and assault.

Ahed’s father, Bassem Tamimi, said the indictment was a “political trial” and accused Israel of digging up old cases in addition to the slapping incident to “justify her arrest.”

She made headlines in 2015 when she bit a soldier’s hand as he held her brother in a chokehold during an attempted arrest.
