CRICKET BELMONT completed their first season in the Chess Valley League with an 11-run defeat against Octopus CC at Knebworth House.

Jonny Eintracht was the star performer with the ball for Belmont. He claimed figures of 4-16 from eight overs to cap a fine first season for the club as Octopus were dismissed for 178. There were also wickets for Adam Morris, Jonathan Evans and Josh Reynolds.

Belmont plummeted to 70-5 at the midway point, with Australian Daniel Frumar holding the innings together.

The defeat consigned Belmont to the wooden spoon in Division Five and captain Adam Jacobs commented: “It was a frustrating end to our league campaign, as it was a game that we undoubtedly should have won.

“It’s been a good year for the club, with new additions off the pitch and some positive play on it.”
