The shirt is huge for summer, so the launch of this French label couldn’t be more timely. Do one thing and do it well seems to be the motto of founder Aude Casteja who, with exquisite attention to detail and craftsmanship, has reworked the wardrobe staple with details such as pleating, ruffles and cutouts, creating contemporary styles that will become future classics. monographieparis.com Boasting bright vintage-inspired designs with a modern, British feel, Rixo London is the brainchild of best friends and London College of Fashion alumnae Henrietta Rix and Orlagh McCloskey. Their new collection, which features designs hand-printed in their living rooms, is full of grown-up boho dresses and blouses. While there’s been a big buzz around Rixo since its debut in 2015, it has just been picked up by Net-A-Porter and there is a collaboration on the way, so this looks set to be the label’s breakthrough year. rixo.co.uk DRESS, £255, and BLOUSE, £165, Rixo, rixo.co.uk and net-a-porter.com With its designers Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim both hailing from Oscar de la Renta, Monse’s debut show, only a year ago, created quite a stir. Since then, with the announcement that the duo will return to de la Renta as co-creative directors as well as running Monse, the hype around the label has grown. Its signature deconstructed tailoring with a feminine twist of silks and sequins has turned a start-up label into a global hit, both in department stores (Harvey Nichols cites Monse as one of its most exciting new brands) and on the red carpet. monse.com FAR RIGHT: SHIRT, £1,000, and SKIRT, £3,325, both Monse, harveynichols.com DRESS, £840, Attico, net-a-porter.com
