Hull hopes to hit form on home course

- By Derek Lawrenson

LAST week in America she revelled in keeping the home crowd quiet. This week, at the Ricoh Women’s British Open being staged over the Marquess course at Woburn, Charley Hull is hell bent on hearing the home crowd roar.

When not travelling, Hull, 20, is usually at the Bedfordshire course, where she has a parking spot.

‘If I’m honest I’d have to say I haven’t played the Marquess course that often, so I don’t know how much of an advantage that will be. But I do know that if I’m in contention and I’ve got the crowd going, that will be a huge plus.’

It has been a quiet summer for Hull since she pushed Lydia Ko down the stretch at the first women’s major of the season in April. This is the time to find form. ‘I’m never going to have a month like the next one again, with a home major followed by Rio, so it would be wonderful to play really well,’ she said.
