Dressing for a new you
IT CAN, of course, be difficult to dress for a new figure you might not yet be used to.
But having a mastectomy shouldn’t mean certain styles are suddenly off-limits. Rather, it should allow you to explore what works with your new shape.
Try necklines that draw the eye from the bust to the decolletage, and add femininity with ruffles and florals or prints. And don’t give up on your current wardrobe. You could use a brooch to adjust necklines or draping.
To feel truly confident, you need to feel comfortable. Stick to breathable fabrics (particularly in the early healing stages) such as jersey and cotton, or opt for silky ‘pyjama’-style shirts. Pair

with co-ordinating trousers, or balance looser cuts on top with your favourite slim jeans.
If you’re insecure about one part of your body, show off others. Flaunt legs in a skirt, feel flirty in a backless dress, or go full 2016 A/W Prada and cinch in your waist with a belt.
The chest is not a woman’s only asset. It simply becomes a case of where to bare.
