And now X Factor judge Louis Walsh has let rip at everyone from Simon Cowell and Cheryl FernandezVersini to One Direction in a blistering exclusive interview with The Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine. Walsh was brought back to the ITV talent show after its ratings slumped when he was dumped by Cowell last year. And today he slams the last series for ‘trying to be too hip’ and says he watched BBC rival Strictly Come Dancing instead.
Walsh says 2015 judges Rita Ora and Fernandez-Versini ‘had no chemistry’, adding: ‘There was no fun. They were all sitting there trying to look, “Am I more fabulous than her?”’
He also takes a pot shot at Cheryl’s singing, saying: ‘She’s no Mariah Carey or Celine Dion.’ Of Cowell, he says: ‘He has lots of massages. Not just facials, ego massages.’ And of One Direction: ‘Simon created monsters. They all think they’re going to be solo stars. They’re not. Only Harry. Then they’ll be sorry they broke up and it’ll be too late because there’s another boyband.’
