Malan awaiting England call

DAWID MALAN and Tom Curran could be beneficiaries of the ECB’s decision to allow its biggest stars to stay in the Indian Premier League as they may be named in the first squad of England’s busiest season ever.

The uncapped pair are being considered for the two oneday matches against Ireland next month because of the absences of Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes.

But Middlesex’s Malan and Surrey’s elder Curran brother will not have the incentive of a Champions Trophy place to play for as national selector James Whitaker will name the squad for the global event at the same time on Tuesday.
