Britons blow half of holiday cash on booze

ALCOHOL is top of the shopping list when Brits go on holiday, according to a new report.

UK holidaymakers spend almost half – 44 per cent – of their entertainment budget on booze with just 23 per cent allocated to eating out.

The research by travel money website WeSwap revealed that Londoners spend the most on food when they’re away, but Scots are the biggest shoppers.

When it comes to Brits’ overall holiday spending, the gambling hotspot of Las Vegas is the most expensive city in the world we visit, where we get through £171 a day on average.

Other American destinations among the most expensive to enjoy a day out include New York (£125), Orlando (£114) and San Francisco (£97).
