And new deals will make even more cash!
THE Premier League will earn £3.2billion from foreign broadcasters in 2016-19 but has already wrapped up some lucrative deals for 2019-2022 worth between twice and 14 times as much as now.
We can reveal the main sports broadcaster in Sub-Saharan Africa, SuperSport, has agreed to double the £84m a year they pay for 2016-19 to guarantee a £168m-a-year deal in their region for 2019-2022.
Jaw-dropping growth has also been seen in China, where digital firm PPTV will pay £180m per year for 2019-2022, up from £13m a year now paid by SSMG — almost 14 times as much.
American giants NBC are paying £128m per season through to 2022 in a sixyear, $1bn deal worth twice as much as their last one.
The Premier League currently makes £1.07bn a year from all overseas deals combined. From 2019, China, the USA and Sub-Saharan Africa alone will be paying £476m a year. Another 60 or so national and territorial deals are likely to triple that at least.
