CHARLOTTE GRIFFITHS’ IRRESISTIBLE SOCIAL DIARY

-

PIXIE GELDOF tied the knot in Spain yesterday after leaving her guests – and husband-to-be, rocker George Barnett – waiting in the 86F heat for over two hours.

Singer and model Miss Geldof, 25, who wore a traditional white dress, finally arrived with her bridesmaids in a humble grey coach for the service at Mallorca’s 17th Century Son Marroig estate. She was greeted by beaming father Bob.

The bridesmaids included Strictly Come Dancing star Daisy Lowe. Thomas Cohen, the widower of Pixie’s sister Peaches – who died of a drug overdose in 2014 – attended with his two daughters and the bride’s sister Fifi Robertson. Pixie’s mother, Paula Yates, also tragically died of a drug overdose. SHE has secured herself a major Royal connection by dating James Middleton, brother of the Duchess of Cambridge. But I wonder if Donna Air pushed things a little too far last week by parading at a fashion show in a crown.

Donna, 37, agreed to wear the £60,000 Swarovski crystal headpiece at an exclusive party at Claridges hosted by Chinese jewellery designer Beau Han Xu. She sported her with aplomb, teaming it with an Amanda Wakeley ballgown and a winning smile, right. She told me: ‘It was rather heavy. I was worried it might fall off!’

A spokesman for Beau Han Xu described the headpiece as a tiara.
