Oxlade-Chamberlai­n could leave Arsenal

ALEX Oxlade-Chamberlai­n is frustrated at Arsenal’s lack of activity over his new contract — opening the prospect of him leaving this summer.

The midfielder (below) is eager to resolve his future and was expecting Arsenal to begin talks quickly, however the Gunners are yet to formally offer him a new deal.

Oxlade-Chamberlai­n’s frustratio­n has thrown his future into major doubt, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City watching developmen­ts.

The 23-year-old was one of Arsenal’s top performers during the closing weeks of the season and was informed that he could expect a quick

Arsenal have a huge problem with contract renewals this summer, with a number of players entering the final year of their deals. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have not agreed new contracts and can start pre-contract negotiatio­ns with a foreign club from January 1.

DERBY COUNTY are rivalling Aston Villa for Stoke’s Republic of Ireland midfielder Glenn Whelan. Villa have had a £500,000 bid for Whelan, 33, rejected.

Derby, whose manager Gary Rowett is an admirer of Whelan’s defensive qualities, are expected to step in.
