GRIMSBY came from behind to win Neil Aspin’s first league game in charge of Port Vale. Tom Pope put the home side in front, but Sam Jones levelled and Sirki Dembele walked in the winner.

NEWPORT manager Mike Flynn hailed an ‘outstandin­g’ showing to beat Yeovil. He said: ‘They moved the ball well, they defended well, and played some really good football.’ Padraig Amond and captain Joss Labadie got the goals.

MORECAMBE 0 CRAWLEY 1

BILLY CLIFFORD got the only goal direct from a corner to give Crawley a much-needed win over 10-man Morecambe, who had Kevin Ellison sent off for an offthe-ball incident with Josh Lelan.

LINCOLN continued their solid start to life back in the League by beating struggling Chesterfie­ld. Michael Bostwick and an Andy Kellett own-goal put them in charge, before Kristian Dennis pulled one back from the spot.

JORDAN BOWERY fired a stoppage-time winner as Crewe ended a run of five consecutiv­e defeats. Manager Dave Artell said: ‘Jordan has been a real bright spark. I am delighted.’

CARLISLE manager Keith Curle saw his side go down to another home defeat against high-flying Exeter, but pledged: ‘Wins will come.’ Pierce Sweeney got the only goal for Exeter.

ACCRINGTON 0 LUTON 2

LUTON jumped up to third place as a James Collins goal and Danny Hylton penalty saw them beat promotion rivals Accrington. Luton boss Nathan Jones praised ‘a really profession­al performanc­e. This is a difficult place to come.’

BARNET 0 COVENTRY 0

COVENTRY boss Mark Robins was left frustrated by their goalless draw at Barnet. He said: ‘It was rubbish. There was very little in it. The first half was dire. We didn’t do enough.’

CAMBRIDGE 1 WYCOMBE 3

EBERE EZE’S double inspired Wycombe, and Cambridge boss Shaun Derry admitted: ‘They were incredible strikes.’ Josh Umerah also got one, while Medy Elito scored a penalty for Cambridge, who had Leon Legge sent off.

DANNY WRIGHT won it for Cheltenham four minutes into injury time after earlier missing a penalty. Brian Graham had put them in front before Matt Preston levelled.

SEAN MURRAY scored one and made the other for Mikael Mandron as Colchester saw off Mansfield. Colchester boss John McGreal said: ‘It was great for Sean, who’s put a lot of toil into the position he plays and he’s getting his rewards.’
