Queen’s disgraced banker turns up too!

- By Nick Craven

A BANKER who resigned in disgrace from Coutts, the private bank used by the Queen, was a guest at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.

Harry Keogh, 57, left the bank earlier this year following allegations that he inappropriately touched young female staff and made lewd comments.

It was claimed his behaviour was so toxic that some female staff refused to work with him.

Despite that, he was seen in a morning suit with other guests at Windsor Castle on Friday for the marriage of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

An investigation by the Wall Street Journal in March claimed that Mr Keogh touched the groin of a graduate trainee in her 20s in front of other employees three years ago.

On another occasion as he was leaving a company dinner, he was claimed to have whispered to her that ‘he’d take her with him if he could’. And he allegedly told another woman she had the ‘longest legs in Coutts’ and he wanted to marry her.

Mr Keogh was seen by some colleagues as untouchable because his loyal client list – built up over many years – brought in as much as a third of business at the 300-yearold bank.

When the Wall Street Journal claims first emerged, Mr Keogh was given a written warning and had his bonus withheld – but stayed in the job. A fortnight later, following outrage, he was forced to quit.

At the time, a spokesman for RBS, owner of Coutts, said: ‘Following recent media attention and the consequent strain placed on him and his family, Harry Keogh resigned.’

Coutts carried out an investigation into Mr Keogh in 2015 after Michael Morley, then chief executive, was told about the allegations.

Mr Morley was said to have been ‘shocked’ and recommended that Mr Keogh leave. Despite that, he stayed.
