Bugiel sounds for Rebels

The Non-League Football Paper - - RYMAN PREMIER - By Ian Townsend

WORTHING extended their unbeaten run to ten matches in a match which was effectively decided during ten minutes of first-half madness at Woodside Road.

In the 26th minute, Rebels striker Omar Bugiel received the ball just inside the opposition half before powering towards goal, Angels defender Ugo Udogi at his heels.

It seemed that Bugiel – reportedly the subject of interest from Rotherham United and Dagenham & Redbridge – had lost control when he and the defender made contact. But the referee awarded a penalty before sending off Udogi.

Bugiel fired home the spotkick for his 11th league goal of the season.

Ten minutes later an altercation between Nick Wheeler and Aaron Hopkinson resulted in Wheeler being red carded and Angels reduced to nine.

A touchline melee also saw Angels boss Steve McKimm and Rebels unused substitute Brannon O’Neill sent to the stand.

Seven minutes of added time saw Angels come close to an equaliser as Will Hendon cleared a miskick off the line.

The referee continued to take centre stage in the second half, awarding Worthing two more penalties.

Bugiel took both. He scored the first and, when Anthony Di Bernado saved his second, Zac Newton was on hand to fire home the rebound.

STAR MAN: Omar Bugiel (Worthing) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
