LUCKY ROCKS BACK ON TOP
BOGNOR REGIS T 2 BILLERICAY TN 1
JAMES FRASER’S 94thminute penalty kept Bognor Regis ahead of the chasing pack at the top of the table, after a high-tempo encounter against an in-form Billericay outfit.
A competitive first half remained goalless but matters improved up after the half-time break.
The Rocks went ahead on 65 minutes.
Ollie Pearce’s free-kick floated kindly for Chad Field, who had space in the box to glance his header wonderfully beyond Billericay custodian Jack Giddens.
But the Blues equalised on 83 minutes.
Bognor keeper Dan Lincoln misjudged the flight of a shot from distance by Lewis Taafe and the ball dipped underneath the crossbar.
And the visitors nearly edged in front themselves on 89 minutes when substitute Goldy Capela hooked a cross into the net from a tight angle only for his effort to be disallowed for obstruction on Lincoln.
Five minutes later, though, James Crane’s shot struck a Billericay hand inside the area and Fraser sent Giddens the wrong way to keep the Rocks at the summit.
