DORCHESTER TN 0 BANBURY UNITED 1
BANBURY United extended their unbeaten run to six games with a late penalty.
New Magpies boss Craig Laird saw his side’s own sixmatch run come to an end when Neil Martin handled a left-wing cross from Marvin Martin to concede an 86th-minute penalty which Mark Bell converted.
The match was devoid of goalmouth action but not short on endeavour with Banbury always looking the most likely winners. Dorchester carved out the first opening when Ben Wood’s centre was met by Lewis Morgan who headed over.
A timely intervention by Dorchester keeper Shane Murphy denied Callum White a free run on goal.
Dorchester midfielder Franklyn Clarke produced a fine double block to deny George Nash while Murphy saved a free-kick from Zac McEachran at the near post.
Before the eventual Banbury breakthrough, Murphy saved a low effort from Martin Asiedu Ososu, then dived to claim a curling effort from Jack Self.
Ben Wood had a rare Dorchester shot dropped but Martin’s handball ensured a happy journey home for Mike Ford’s side as they claimed all three points.
