A FRUSTRATING encounter for many with chances created and missed at either end, but a game where the two goalkeepers were excellent.

Spalding, victorious in their previous five matches, opened brightly with some good movements and close shaves, but it was Kidsgrove who were nearest to scoring with two free headers – one of which was cleared from the line by Paul Walker.

Spalding’s on-loan keeper Richard Walton’s reflexes were fully tested to deny Lee Pickerill.

At the other end, Chris Martin dealt with everything Spalding threw at him and did particularly well to save Jack Wightwick’s 25-yard drive at full stretch as the game entered its closing stages.
