FAMILIAR DUO BACK TO HAUNT MARGATE
MARGATE slipped to rock bottom of the National League South table after being beaten 3-0 struggling Bishop’s Stortford.
These two sides entered the game in dreadful form and propping up the rest of the table, but a Greg Cundle first half strike followed by a first goal for Phil Walsh and an Emmanuel Adebowale strike condemned Margate to another defeat that sent them bottom of the table.
Margate started brightly but it was the visitors who took the lead in the 28th minute as a long Johnny Herd throw in was fumbled by Valery Pajetat before being turned home by former Margate loanee Cundle.
Stortford doubled their advantage just minutes after the break as new signing Walsh, another former Blues player headed home unmarked to set Stortford on their way to a much needed three points.
On-loan Dover Athletic striker Ira Jackson had a half chance to reduce the arrears but his fierce shot was pushed away by Stortford Keeper Harry Voss as the Blues looked for a way back into the game.
The result was confirmed in the later stages of the game as the ball was turned home by Adebowale to make it 3-0 and lift Stortford off the bottom and above the Blues. STAR MAN: Phil Walsh (Bishops Stortford) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
