Reds to the four in rout of Boro

- By Chris Philpotts

NUNEATON 1 FC UNITED 4

NUNEATON TOWN’S seven-match unbeaten run crashed to an end as FC United ran riot at the Coombe Abbey Arena.

Neither keeper was tested in the opening exchanges as the game was unspectacular. but United changed that when they found a breakthrough in the 42nd minute.

The goal came after the visitors upped the ante, twice forcing Boro to clear off the line before Sam Sheridan fired home inside the box with a shot that went in off a post.

Boro were level before half time, Jordan Nicholson breaking through before beating the onrushing keeper.

That goal was a rare reason to smile for Nuneaton as they were blown away in a desperate second half.

The blitz started with less than ten minutes played as Jordan Fagbola scored his first United goal after turning sharply and burying a shot from inside the box that Tyrell Belford had no chance of stopping.

United led 3-1 moments later when Matthew Wolfenden finished from close range before George Thomson beat the offside trap on the right and, when left one-onone with Belford, produced a top finish.
