HEMEL HEMPSTEAD TOWN 0 WINGATE & FINCHLEY 0
HEMEL and Wingate & Finchley have to do it again on Tuesday.
Most Hemel supporters could have predicted this result as they have had trouble with lower league opposition in the last few seasons.
Bostik Premier Wingate could have nicked the win when an 81st minute freekick from ex-Tudor Ben Pattie just drifted wide of the post.
The first real chance of the game came when Hemel’s Taylor Miles miscued his shot, the ball landed kindly for Rowan Liburd but his first time shot was well blocked by keeper Shane Gore.
As the half progressed the visitor’s confidence grew against the National League South side and Pattie fired in a free kick that looked as though it was meant as a cross but it curled towards the goal and Laurie Walker did well to tip it over.
They had another chance when Pattie sent striker Reece BecklesRichard clear but his shot was again well saved by Walker.
Alex Osborn managed to trouble Gore just before the break but his effort was pushed away and they sides went in level.
The game didn’t really improve in the second half, the nearest either sides came to breaking the deadlock came from freekicks, Gore saving superbly from Jordan Parkes and Pattie’s late effort going wide.
