KEMPSTON ROVERS 0 HEREFORD 4
JOHN MILLS scored two penalties as Hereford stormed into the next round with a comfortable victory at Hillgrounds.
The hosts had the first opportunity of the game with less than five minutes on the clock as Ash Fuller beat three Hereford players before pulling back to Ben Shepherd who couldn’t keep his shot down.
The rest of the first half was evenly poised with neither side able to take full control until five minutes before the break when Gary Preen’s low shot beat Martin Conway in the Kempston goal to give the visitors the lead.
Just moments after the break the lead was doubled when Mills grabbed his first from the penalty spot, shooting straight down the middle, after James Bowen was brought down in the box.
The Evo-Stik South Premier promotion hopefuls dominated from there and a quarter of an hour later the referee was pointing to the spot again after a foul by Kyal McNulty, which also saw him booked. Striker Mills grabbed his second with a typically ruthless finish from the resultant penalty.
Kempston did muster another opportunity but Grant Fryer’s header was well saved by Martin Horsell.
And the match was wrapped up in injury time, Lance Smith beating the offside trap and coolly finishing past the Rovers keeper.
