The Non-League Football Paper - - FA CUP SECOND ROUND QUALIFYING - By Craig Phillips

HANDSWORTH Parramore and FC United will replay their tie on Tuesday night after the Northern Counties East outfit held their National League North opponents to a draw.

The Red Rebels came into the game after four consecutive league defeats and had hoped that playing a team three steps below would be a distraction from their poor league form.

For much of the first half the Ambers held their own, frustrating the visitors. But ten minutes before the break a clumsy challenge saw FC United awarded a penalty, an opportunity which was quickly snapped up by Steve Irwin.

The home team had a great chance early in the second half but Aaron Moxam saw his effort saved by Lloyd Allinson.

FC United stepped things up from there, with Craig Lindfield heading a great chance wide and Jason Gilchrist rattling the bar, but found the organised Handsworth defence difficult to break down.

Still in the game late on, the home team pushed forward and captain Pat Lindley grabbed a memorable goal to level things up.

FC United still had a glorious opportunity to get the win but Tom Greaves’ stoppagetime effort was ruled out for offside.
