SCARBOROUGH ATHLETIC 2 SUNDERLAND RCA 0
SECOND-HALF strikes from Michael Coulson and Luke Dean sent Scarborough Athletic through at the expense of Sunderland RCA.
The game started in a swirling wind, with both sides struggling to get going. The first opportunity fell at the feet of former Nottingham Forest striker Emile Sinclair as he charged onto a long ball but dragged his shot well wide.
At the other end Stephen Callen should have done better with a far-post header that only just cleared the crossbar for the Northern League side.
Boro striker Coulson, off the back of a hat-trick in midweek, turned provider with a cross from the left that Sinclair nodded wide from close range.
The home side started to take control after the break and took the lead on the hour mark as a poor clearance from Neal Bussey fell back to Sinclair to square for Coulson to rifle in the opener.
Sunderland continued to cause problems, with Callen having a shot blocked on the goal-line twice by Dan Thirkell following a melee in the box.
The second goal came late on as Dean curled beyond the dive of Bussey and into the bottom corner to send the Seadogs through to the next round.
