JARVIS TREBLE LIFTS ROMANS
THE three-division gap told as Nat Jarvis’ perfect hat-trick helped Bath City comfortably see off a spirited Knaphill side at Twerton Park.
Debutant Jojo Wollacott was given a few nervy moments early as the Combined Counties outfit started brightly.
But their good work was undone on 23 minutes when Jack Compton’s free-kick bounced past Richard Shelley to settle Jim Rollo’s men.
Jarvis made it two five minutes later. Nick McCootie robbed Timmy Taylor and squared to Jarvis to score.
Anthony Straker was denied by the legs of Shelley as Knaphill struggled to cope with City’s attack and Kevin Amankwaah had a goal disallowed just before half-time.
McCootie also created City’s third just past the hour. His charging run was followed by a pull-back to Andy Watkins, who side-footed home.
Jamie Lucas did his utmost to increase the Romans’ tally, before McCootie chipped in with his first of the season. Taylor’s sliced clearance fell invitingly to the front man, who drilled in from 12 yards.
Jarvis completed his hattrick with two close-range finishes late on to cap off a fine afternoon for the National League South side.
