EASTBOURNE BOROUGH 4 CARSHALTON ATHLETIC 3

The Non-League Football Paper - - FA CUP SECOND ROUND QUALIFYING - By Kevin Anderson

CARSHALTON Athletic were a crossbar’s width away from an upset at Priory Lane, where Eastbourne Borough almost surrended a comfortable lead.

The Sports dominated and surged to 2-0 through a smart Yemi Odubade strike and a Sergio Torres cracker.

Then a freakish own goal from Ian Simpemba allowed the Robins back, before Odubade’s classy header restored the two-goal buffer just before half-time.

Straight after the break 31 became 4-1 through Jamie Taylor’s unerring finish, and Borough were coasting.

But Carshalton dramatically hauled themselves back via Raheem SterlingParker and Bobby Price, with the former spurning a glorious chance to level it up with just two minutes to go.
