FIRST WIN DUN AND DUSTED!
ANDREW Osei-Bensu struck 20 minutes from time to hand Dunstable Town their first league win of the season at the expense of injury-ravaged Farnborough.
Victory moved Town off the foot of the table but Dunstable first had to fend off early threat from their former strike Connor Calcutt, who fired in two blocked shots and another narrowly wide.
Home keeper Casey Harker had a pleasing debut with a clean sheet and some vital saves to his credit.
Dunstable, however, settled well and Arel Amu’s fine run saw his shot blocked and a follow-up cross from Claudio Silva saw young Boro keeper Aiden Upward palm the ball clear, and he also made a notable save from Ryan Young.
After a goalless first half, Dunstable looked likelier to score in the early stages of the second period.
And ironically the goal eventually came from an error by Upward who handed the chance to Osei-Bensu following a misunderstanding.
Osei-Bensu and Amu came close to doubling Dunstable’s lead – the latter with a delicate chip tipped over by Upward – while Josh Huggins went closest for Boro with an effort which suffered the same fate.
