LINNETS FLUFF THEIR LINES
IT MUST have been a long trip back to Norfolk for the luckless Linnets who really should have got more from this game.
However, Lynn were left to rue a missed first-half penalty from skipper Michael Clunan and more profligacy after the break before they succumbed to their fortunate hosts.
In fairness Gareth Stewart was at full stretch as he denied Clunan from the spot with a fantastic save on 17 minutes, but the Terras made the most of this let-off to forge ahead just before the half-hour when Ben Thomson played in Brandon Goodship.
The visitors responded well and Ryan Hawkins smashed the foot of the post from a 25yard free-kick. And they were deservedly back on terms midway through the second period as Michael Gash linked with Craig Parker before slotting home.
However, it was somewhat against the run of play when the hosts edged in front again eight minutes later when Josh Carmichael picked out Goodship, who struck competently past Street for his brace.
Further unexpected gloss arrived in the 84th minute when Charlie Davis’s 25-yard volley gave Street no chance, leaving the Linnets to work out how they finished losing.
