Havant fail to fire in tale of two headers

The Non-League Football Paper - - NATIONAL LEAGUE SOUTH - CONCORD RANGERS 1 HAVANT & WATERLOOVILLE 1 By Jack Smith

HAVANT remain in the top seven but may rue their missed chances after a closely contested game between the lowly Beachboys and visiting Hawks.

Concord were quick off the mark and opened the scoring through their captain, Steve Cawley.

A near-post corner was flicked over and beyond the watchful eye of the visiting goalkeeper Ryan Young into the far corner.

The lead was shortlived though as Jason Prior was on hand to head home a solid equaliser when he arrived at the back post.

Concord wasted a host of chances just before half-time as Khale Da Costa saw his shot blocked after travelling half the pitch and Jordan Cox made a mess of a good opportunity.

The home side were much improved in the second half and saw a number of good headed chances miss their target.

As the match entered the later stages it could have been anyone’s game as Concord pressed for a winner late on but were held to a draw.
