Curry is too hot for Nash to handle

The Non-League Football Paper - - NATIONAL LEAGUE NORTH - CURZON ASHTON 1 HARROGATE TOWN 2 By Dave Jones

SUBSTITUTE Mitchell Curry hit a late winner as league leaders Harrogate Town overcame Curzon Ashton to stretch their advantage at the summit, maintaining their unbeaten away record at the Tameside Stadium in the process.

The table toppers first went ahead after ten minutes, when a clearance fell to Joe Leesley, whose shot deflected off Nash defender Danny Shaw then flew past keeper Cam Mason into the corner of the net.

The Nash equalised just 12 minutes late, when influential midfielder Chris Rowney won a great tackle 25 yards from goal.

Rowney played the ball to captain Joe Guest, he found Ben Wharton who held the ball up on the edge of the box for Rowney to meet it and fire a screamer into the top right hand corner of James Belshaw’s net.

But all of the hosts’ hard work was undone three minutes from time through Town’s only real effort of the second half.

A cross from the right found sub Curry and despite appeals for offside, he slotted past Mason to give the Yorkshiremen a victory that moves them three points clear of second-place Salford City.

STAR MAN: Chris Rowney (Curzon Ashton) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
