Sub Kurt Revs up winning Brakes
LEAMINGTON scored from a trio of setpieces to pick up an impressive win against joint-leaders Salford.
The Brakes went ahead courtesy of a 19th minute penalty won when Ammies defender Michael Nottingham struggled to clear an awkward ball and Carl Piergianni was penalised for a tug on Jack Edwards.
Rob ThompsonBrown tucked home the spot-kick, but Salford were back level ten minutes later.
Lois Maynard picked up a pass inside from the left before drilling in a low 20-yarder, with Mike Phenix getting a touch that directed the ball home.
Leamington had more pressure to absorb before retaking the lead in 44th minute when Connor Gudger lined up a 25-yard freekick then clipped an effort in via the inside of Max Crocombe’s left-hand upright.
The second period saw the Ammies pushing forward and Phenix equalised again midway through the half, getting up to head home Ibou Touray’s corner.
The Brakes snatched an unlikely win five minutes from time, when a corner dropped into the six-yard box for sub Kurtis Revan to touch home from close range.
