HARDY STRIKE IS JUST MAGIC

The Non-League Football Paper - - EVO-STIK NPL PREMIER - By Tony Tomlinson

A QUITE brilliant Liam Hardy goal just short of the hour earned Buxton full points.

With wind, rain and slope in their favour, Marine took a fifth minute lead.

James Murray got to the byline and from his looping pull-back, George Lomax’s downward header beat keeper Jan Budtz.

The Bux took the first quarter to get going, but then equalised in the 28th minute. Joe McGee’s powerful run forced a corner from which Luke Hinsley headed home.

Encouraged, the home side made further openings, with Hinsley feeding Sam Smith who shot wide, then Curtis Morrison, lively in attack, shot into the side netting on half time.

With the elements in their favour, the Bux dominated second half possession, but Marine fashioned a neat passing move for Danny Mitchley to fire at Budtz.

Then Hardy’s pace enabled him to seize on a backpass, instantly turning to face goal and slide the ball home from the narrowest of angles.

Twenty minutes later, Hardy’s pull-back crossed the face of goal untouched before Marine made a determined effort late on without creating a clear opening.
