The Non-League Football Paper - - EVO-STIK LEAGUE SOUTH - By Jeremy Fox

GOSPORT’S new boss Mick Catlin’s search for a win continues.

This result, coupled with Dunstable’s home win against Farnborough, cast Boro three points adrift at the bottom of the league.

Tyrique Hyde-Skeritt scored twice, his first on 21 minutes as a defensive error allowed him the space and time.

The visitors made it two as captain Mark Hughes profited from a corner which wasn’t properly dealt with leaving Gosport with a lot of work to do.

Boro offered more in the second half, with substitute Max Smith inspiring them into moving up through the gears.

Smith had a golden opportunity to reduce the arrears as he found himself in space on the right hand side of the visitors’ area. His shot was well saved by McCarthy but the offside flag had been raised.

The Hertfordshire side effectively won the game when Hyde-Skerritt unleashed a beautifully struck shot leaving Lewis Watch with no chance as it curled over the keeper and in off the underside of the bar.

Gosport scored a consolation as Onwauchwu’s header sailed past McCarthy after connecting with Wooodward’s cross.
