COALVILLE Town put their dismal run of five straight league defeats behind them to book a place in the next round of the FA Trophy.

The only goal of the game came on 76 minutes when Nathan Watson latched on to an excellent pass from Blair Anderson before applying a cool finish to steer the ball past Ethan Ross in the Reds goal.

And while Watson bagged the headlines with his match-winner, Ravens boss Tommy Brookbanks also praised central defender Lee Torr, playing his first full game since recovering from a serious knee injury.

“Lee Torr is probably one of the best defenders in the league.,” Brookbanks said. “He’s been out and only played half a game last Saturday on his return. We needed him to play 90 minutes because of the players we have out. We’ve thrown him in and he’s shown what a class act he is. It’s great to have him back.

“I thought we were superb last week before we went down to nine men and I thought we were good again here and we’re staring to find a bit of the form we had earlier in the season.

“We have a lot of young lads and if we’re winning they’re on it but if they’re losing then they are difficult to pick back up.

“But it’s coming back a little bit now. A cup run is massive for the football club. We wanted to get a performanc­e and we got that today and the result was the icing on the cake. We’d have taken a draw but one bit of magic won it for us.”
