ABBOTS QUICK OUT OF BLOCKS

ROMFORD 1 WALTHAM ABBEY 2

The Non-League Football Paper - - BOSTIK NORTH & SOUTH - By Mike Woods

TWO first half goals were enough for Waltham Abbey to take three points at Romford.

Nathan Koranteng opened the scoring for the visitors but Romford thought they had equalised when Harry Daly found the back of the net, only to be ruled out for Chris Taylor’s offside.

Darelle Russell ran onto a fine through ball to double the visitors’ advantage before the break.

After half-time, Romford created a number of decent chances, with Danny Cossington denied by a good save before hitting the post.

Craig Jeakins gave the Boro hope, driving home from just inside the box, but Romford ultimately fell to their sixth home league defeat.
