HALESOWEN TOWN 3 WHITBY TOWN 1
TWO goals from Halesowen hero John McAtee left struggling Whitby without a win in 12 games.
But the visitors started well and went ahead after just five minutes when Kyle Fryatt's header struck the underside of the bar and he was on hand to tap home the rebound. Daniel McWilliams then curled a 7th minute free-kick wide.
McAtee led Halesowen's recovery and he went close in the 33rd minute as his effort hit the base of the post. But McAtee soon equalised when his 36th minute shot from the edge of the penalty area deflected beyond Whitby goalkeeper Daniel Dixon.
Half-time substitute Jack Kelly gave the Yeltz a 61st minute lead when his cross-shot found its way into the Whitby net.
With Whitby seeking an equaliser, Luke Bythway's 80th minute goal-bound shot was blocked for a corner but Halesowen broke away to make it 3-1 in the 81st minute when McAtee found space to calmly slot into the bottom corner.
McAtee then burst through again but was denied his hat-trick as Dixon made a fine save.
Although Halesowen's vital three points were already safe in their first win for eight games, home goalkeeper Dan Platt saved from Matthew Tymon and Whitby substitute Keiran Weledji flashed a header wide in stoppage time.
