HENDON 4 THURROCK 1
HENDON were too strong for a spirited Thurrock team who battled hard long after the game was lost.
Hendon’s Josh Walker struck a post after ten minutes. Then three goals in six minutes turned the game Hendon’s way.
On 19 minutes, Casey Maclaren fired a speculative shot from 20 yards that took a big deflection past Fleet keeper Jake Jessup.
Three minutes later, Jessop was deceived by Dave Diedhiou’s shot which squirmed into the bottom corner.
Ashley Nathaniel-George superbly set up Nico Muir who turned and struck a low shot into the net to make it 3-0.
Thurrock had chances and Reece Morgan struck a post after 30 minutes.
And they got a lifeline on halftime when Channing Campbell-Young brought down Charlie Stimpson and Ronnie Winn smashed in the penalty.
Thurrock started the second half brightly. But Hendon were awarded a penalty just before the hour mark, Muir making no mistake from the spot.
Muir was denied brilliantly by Jessop on 75 minutes.
Thurrock should have pulled a goal back in the last minute but Tim Ogunrinde fired wide.
