CROWBOROUGH ATHLETIC 1 WESTFIELD 0
SAM Crabb was hosts Crowborough Athletic’s hero with their 63rd minute winner at the Crowborough Community Stadium.
His decisive strike scuppered Westfield’s hopes of reaching the fourth round for only the second time in the Woking Park-based club’s history.
The first half was a rather dull affair as the ball spent far too much time hurtling from one end to the other and chances were few and far between.
Zac Attwood had a good opportunity for the hosts well saved by Gary Ross in the Field goal, and Micham Abdullah had the visitors’ best chance, shooting wide from close range when well placed.
The second period was a far more entertaining affair with the home side enjoying far more possession and creating the better opportunities. Attwood had an effort cleared off the goal-line in the 47th minute.
Sam Carrington had two great chances before Crabb grabbed the all-important goal, sliding the ball home under Ross’ body from close in, much to the delight of the 127 spectators.
Substitute Tom Pearson had a golden opportunity to increase the hosts’ advantage late on but Ross saved the Field’s blushes again.
