The Non-League Football Paper - - FA TROPHY SECOND ROUND PROPER - By Steve Rutherford

BROMLEY made their extra quality tell to march into the last 16 of the FA Trophy.

Midfield man Josh Rees and the dangerous Louis Dennis both scored twice to sink Blyth.

The Spartans were without talismen Robbie Dale and Dan Maguire, striker Greg Rutherford with their goal.

Rees put the Ravens in the ascendancy after just 16 minutes when he scored at the second attempt from close in to the goal.

George Porter had to be replaced by Adam Mekki on the half hour and the winger played a part in the second goal.

Mekki’s effort five minutes from the break was saved by Spartans’ keeper Shaun MacDonald only for Dennis to pounce and score the crucial goal.

That left Blyth with it all to do after the break, Bromley substitute Brett Williams crashing a 30-yard shot against the home bar.

Damon Mullen almost got Blyth back into the game before Rees, set up by Dennis, made it three on 70 minutes to effectively seal the game.

Rutherford reduced the arrears ten minutes from time from Dale Hopson’s through ball, a dipping curler from Dennis completing the scoring.

STAR MAN: Josh Rees (Bromley) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
