BRIGHTLINGSEA turned on the style in the final 20 minutes to overcome struggling Worthing, who finished the afternoon with ten men.

In a very cagey first half, both sides struggled to make the break through. The only notable chance fell to Rs’ Billy Hunt who shot wide from an Aaron Condon cross.

Straight after the restart, Worthing should have broken the deadlock. Jimmy Wild broke though and his shot forced a fine save from keeper Harry Palmer but Kieron Pamment ballooned over the rebound.

Regent made them pay after 70 minutes, when a long-distance strike from Harry McDonald was parried by Worthing keeper Lucas Covolan and Josh Gould bundled home the rebound.

Two minutes later, Josh Gould tried to get onto the rebound after Condon’s longrange effort but he was bundled over. Hunt dispatched the penalty.

On 81 minutes, Worthing’s Alfie Young received a second booking for throwing a frustrated headbutt towards Condon.

Hunt completed the scoring in the 87th minute, stroking home Rob Harvey’s cross. STAR MAN: Billy Hunt (Brightlingsea Regent) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
