Town pegged back by Jake miss
JAKE REED’S penalty failure denied Lowestoft Town victory as two teams separated by goal difference could not be separated at the Amber Dew Events stadium.
There was little between the sides but Lowestoft will rue the dropped points after top scorer Reed failed to convert the spot-kick he won midway through the second half.
Dorking keeper Slavomir Huk saved the poorly struck spot-kick and saved Jacek Zielonka’s header when the ball was returned into the box.
Lowestoft’s best chance apart from the penalty came on 48 seconds when Reed slipped the ball through to Matty Foy but the young striker pulled his shot across the face of goal.
Dorking’s only clear cut chance came midway through the first half.
Travis Cole slipped on the turf allowing Tom Tolfrey through only for Trawlerboys keeper Ben Dudzinski to save with his legs.
Lowestoft came close when Zielonka’s corner was missed by Huk but cleared off the line by Jerome Beckles.
Beckles went from hero to villain by being dismissed three minutes from time for apparently kicking the ball into Reed’s body as the striker lay on the ground. STAR MAN: Travis Cole (Lowestoft Town) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
