MARGATE snatched an 85th minute winner as they overcame tabletoppers Dulwich Hamlet at Hartsdown Park, a win which moved the hosts to within four points of the play-off places.

In a tight and tense affair, Kane Haysman stole victory for the Blues in front of an impressive crowd at Hartsdown Park.

In an even opening exchanges neither team were able to create a clear cut chance as both sides cancelled each other out.

Jordan Chiedozie and Haysman went closest for the hosts, both with headers.

The second half started with the visitors looking more determined to break the deadlock.

And Nathan Green and Nyren Clunis both forced ‘Gate keeper Sam Sargeant into fine saves.

Both sides continued to cancel each other out with Hamlet substitute Ashley Carew going closest with a free kick that Sargeant was again equal to as the clocked ticked down.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock when the ball fell to the feet of Haysman in the penalty box and he made no mistake by driving his shot low past Hamlet keeper Preston Edwards.

However, the visitors could have grabbed an equaliser right at the death as Green’s low driven cross was hacked off the line by Gate defender Tom Wynter. STAR MAN: Sam Blackman (Margate) ENTERTAINMENT: ★★★★★
