CHAR­LIE IS OFF TO A FLYER

CHAR­LIE MAC­DON­ALD had a de­but to re­mem­ber for Cray Wan­der­ers in mid-week just hours af­ter sign­ing for the pro­mo­tion hope­fuls.

The former Charl­ton striker, who joined from Green­wich Bor­ough, net­ted twice in a 4-2 win at VCD Ath­letic to move just a point be­hind Bostik South lead­ers Lewes ahead of the week­end.

Mac­Don­ald came through the youth team at the Val­ley and made his de­but for the first team 18 years ago against Not­ting­ham For­est.

In 2002, the 36-year-old signed for Margate be­fore mov­ing on to Steve­nage and Craw­ley.

Mac­Don­ald was pro­lific at Gravesend & North­fleet, scor­ing 39 goals in 61 games be­fore sign­ing a two-year deal at Southend United.

He made over 100 ap­pear­ances for Brent­ford and went on to fea­ture for the like of MK Dons, Ley­ton Ori­ent, Old­ham and Barnet.
