SARNIES IN RIGHT LANE FOR SUCCESS
EGHAM Town have moved quickly to replace manager Chris Moore with Northwood boss Simon Lane moving into the hot seat.
The Sarnies parted company with Moore, who led the Evo-Stik South East side to nine wins from their 23 matches. That left the club in midtable and Lane comes in having taken charge of Northwood’s 2-2 draw with Egham last weekend.
Lane is vastly experienced in Non-League football having had a playing career – where he featured for Yeovil Town, Woking and Bath City – cut short by injury. He became the youngest head coach in European top-tier football when given the opportunity to take charge of Maltese side Naxxar Lions at the age of 31 in 1999 and had his first Non-League managerial role with Berkhamsted Town in 2003.
Since then, Lane had a successful spell as Windsor & Eton boss and spent three years alongside Johnson Hippolyte at Maidenhead. He was appointed Northwood boss in May last year having also enjoyed success as manager and director of football at Wingate & Finchley.
