WESTON-SUPER-MARE 1 WORKINGTON 1
WESTON-SUPER-MARE will have to make the mammoth 620-mile round trip to Workington on Tuesday after the Evo-Stik Premier side deservedly held their National League South hosts.
Scott Allison’s 65th-minute effort cancelled out Jarrad Welch’s opener for Weston in a classic game of two halves.
The Seagulls had the first and after Jake Lee fired a shot over it was they who broke the deadlock on 16 minutes when Danny Greenslade’s corner was half-cleared to Tristan Plummer, whose mishit shot fell nicely to Welch who fired home with an excellent finish.
Workington, however, got better as the match wore on and almost equalised through Nathan Waterston’s shot which was cleared off the line by Harvey Smith almost straight from the kick-off.
Then, on 65 minutes, Workington – who beat National League side Hartlepool in the first round – got the leveller they deserved when Waterson’s excellent cross found Allison, who slotted home from close range.
The visitors looked more likely to snatch victory late on but Weston held firm to earn themselves a long midweek trip.
