Robins claim fifth win on trot

- By James Smith

BRACKNELL Town’s stunning start to the Bostik League South Central continued with a 2-1 win over Northwood to secure a fifth straight win of the season.

Any hopes that the visitors may have had of holding the promotion chasers out were quickly dashed inside the first minute.

Carl Davies slotted from close range following a blocked shot from a corner.

Luke Sheldrick had to be at his very best to keep Town out for the rest of the half.

A curling effort from Liam Ferdinand, who has been prolific from midfield so far this season, was plucked out of the top corner by the alert Sheldrick.

But he soon got his revenge when Adam Cornell got on the end of Ferdinand’s pass on 52 minutes and strike the ball into the top left-hand corner of the net and double the lead.

The home side would have been set on keeping a clean sheet to add to their efforts, but midfielder Luke Alfarno changed that with a powerful finish in the 92nd minute.

Town are three points clear of Waltham Abbey at the top.
