NOMADS KEEP THE SAINTS IN SIGHT

- By Chris Smart

THE NEW SAINTS maintained their three-point lead at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League with a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Llanelli

Town at Stebonheath Park. Aeron Edwards followed up his hat-trick against Aberystwyth Town with the opener against the Reds after great work from Dean Ebbe.

Edwards had the ball in the net again a few minutes later, but he was flagged offside.

Danny Redmond then smashed the post with a 25-yard effort before Jon Routledge’s shot deflected in off Chris Thomas for the Saints’ second on the stroke of half-time. Connah’s Quay Nomads remain right behind them after a 3-1 victory over Newtown.

Jay Owen put them ahead inside 49 seconds, but they had to wait 70 minutes for a second goal from Ryan Wignall.

Callum Morris wrapped things up with a late third before Luke Boundford bagged Newtown a consolation goal.

Marcus Jones proved the difference as Barry Town United edged to a 1-0 victory at new boys Caernarfon Town.

Jon Hood struck the post for Barry before Kayne McLaggon was denied from the spot.

The Cofis were reduced to ten men after Clive Williams was shown a second yellow card and Jones took advantage to curl a superb effort into the corner.

Cefn Druids were in rampant form as they thrashed

Carmarthen Town 4-0. Ryan Kershaw, Nathan Peate, Jordan Evans and Dean Rittenburg were all on the scoresheet.
