NORTHERN COUNTIES EAST

- DAVID LAWRENCE

HEMSWORTH MINERS WELFARE returned to the top with a 20 win at Goole in one of the five league games played when the majority of clubs were involved in FA Vase action.

Seon Ripley fired the Miners into a half-time lead with Brad Dockerty wrapping up the win just short of the hour mark.

Two goals inside the opening ten minutes ensured Yorkshire Amateur made the perfect start on their way to a 3-1 home win over Harrogate Railway Athletic.

Matt Dempsey and Ashley Flynn were on target for the hosts and although Sam Barker replied, Fernando Moke’s second half effort wrapped up the victory to lift the league newcomers up to second.

Handsworth Parramore were involved in a thriller at home to Athersley Recreation, scoring twice late on to steal the points 2-1.

Ryan White’s strike looked like being enough to set up a rare win for the visitors, who are struggling near the foot of the table.

But Lee Cooksey levelled three minutes from time before Jon Williams grabbed a last gasp winner.

Jassim Alali struck late with a winner to help Eccleshill United to a 3-2 victory at home to Hall Road Rangers, for whom Reagan Waud scored twice.

Andrew Ring and Danny Howes struck to give Penistone Church a 2-0 home win over Liversedge.
