Morgan magic lights up Merthyr

- By Anthony Hughes

THIS game resembled more of a basketball affair, with chances galore at both ends during the 90 minutes.

With both attacks looking lively and both defences decidely shaky, it could have been 4- 3 by half time.

As it was it was 2-0 to Merthyr with Ashley Evans heading home Kerry Morgan's cross on 13 minutes and Ian Traylor scoring from a similar spot and from a similar cross six minutes later.

Morgan had also seen another effort cleared off the goalline by defender Nesta Guinness-Walker whilst Mekhail McLaughlin also kept out a Kyle Patten header just inside the far post.

Along with that, Tom Meechan struck the post with a header for Merthyr but before the Met's Jack Mazzoni could have had a first half hat-trick, seeing two efforts saved as well as being denied by the woodwork.

However, on the stroke of half-time, they did reduce arrears, John Gilbert sliding home.

The chances continued at the restart and Thomas Williams kept Met Police in the game before the visitors got their deserved equaliser with five minutes left through Mazzoni.
